Pat Buchannan on MSNBC said this morning that Bush actually needs a fight. I think he may be right, and this is shockingly the second time I have agreed with Pat in my life.

Bush has endured a period of famine in political capital. He may lose a house in 2006, too. A bold stroke is his only option, and this administration is all too keen for that kind of logic.
